State title office:

Legal framework:
Peaceful self-help repossession is permitted in Mississippi. No court order is required when done lawfully.
Liens get recorded with the Motor Vehicle Comptroller. And noted on the Certificate of Title. The title is delivered to the lienholder.
Debtor redemption rights: Ten-day redemption period under Mississippi law.
Deficiency claims: Allowed if the contract permits. Confession of judgment notes are invalid in the state. Retaking the vehicle doesn’t prevent a suit for the price, and vice versa.
Post-recovery paperwork: Certificate of Title, affidavit of repossession, and certified copy of Bill of Sale are required for ownership transfer.
License plates: Remain with the vehicle after recovery.
