Indiana title, and repossession requirements:

Indiana Repossession Title State: Repossessor License and Repossession Registration information refer to: Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, 100 N. Senate Ave., #401, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204

Indiana Repossession Recording: With Indiana County Recorder of county where mortgagor resides: if non-resident, where goods are located. Uniform Commercial Code adopted July, 1964. 

Indiana Repossession Recovery: Peaceful repossession permitted. 

Indiana Repossession Redemption: Prior to repossession foreclosure for chattel mortgages and within 21 days of repossession for conditional sales contracts. 

Indiana Repossession Deficiency: Allowed. Regulated by State Statute. 

Special Motor Vehicle Provisions: Lien noted on certificate of Indiana Repossession title. 

Documents Required to Transfer Ownership of Repo Motor Vehicle: Title in owner’s name showing lien (if possible to obtain). Certified true copy of contract. Certificate of Repossession and application for Indiana Repossession title in lien holder’s name. Lien holder or repossessor must obtain title in their name to dispose of vehicle. 

Indiana Repossession Plates: Remain with the owner or repossessor.
