Illinois Repossessor Recording: Uniform Commercial Code adopted July, 1962. Recorded in the county where mortgagor resides or where repo property is located in Illinois.
Illinois Repossession Recovery: Peaceful repossession permitted in Illinois.
Illinois Repossession Redemption: Security agreements allow 21 days prior to date of repo sale by payment in full to repossessor.
Illinois Repossession Deficiency: Confession of repossession judgment is valid. Illinois Repossession Deficiency is permitted but if debtor has paid 50% of the contract price, resale bars suit for repossessor price.
Special Motor Vehicle Provisions: All Illinois Repossession liens must be noted to be effective and title is retained by lien holder. No other Illinois repossessor recording required.
Documents Required to Transfer Ownership of Motor Vehicle: Certificate of title in repossession lien holder’s name, notarized Bill of Sale. Illinois Repossession Liens are released on the face of the title.
Illinois Repossession Plates: Remain with owner.
