The basics:
You can repo peacefully here. No court order needed if done right.
Record the lien with the Circuit Court Clerk where the car is located first. The use UCC rules from 1967.
Plates stay with the owner. The lien notice goes to the state and shows on the title.
Owner rights: They can pay the full balance before sale and get the car back. After the sale, too late.
Deficiency rules: Doesn’t allow confession of judgment. Courts handle deficiency claims the proper way.
Title transfer: Put the title in the lienholder’s name or authorized agent’s name first.
